Random Triage and Twins October 19, 2014 Adventures of a Labor Nurse 5129 Views 5 Comments core, delivery, labor, nurse, nursing, OB, triage This is how I feel when I get to work and find out I’m the surgery nurse, and the mom in triage that needs to be sectioned is pregnant, with twins. This is how I feel when the provider on call offers the patient the option to proceed with a cesarean delivery, or attempt to have a vaginal delivery. This is how I feel when the patient discusses it with her family, and decides to try to have a vaginal delivery. This is how I feel when I realize I’ll be laboring a mom with twins (definitely 1 to 1)!!! This is how I feel when I realize I’ll no longer be the surgery nurse. This is how I feel when the provider tells me to start Pitocin, and I realize I’ll have to do FHTs on two babies every 15 minutes. This is how I feel when I watch patient after patient come to triage, and I focus on my twin-mom. This is how I feel when both babies delivery vaginally. This is how I feel when I offer a helping hand to the triage nurse that’s drowning. This is how I feel when I find myself triaging a patient and recovering a mom who just had twins. This is how I feel when I help that mom breastfeed two babies, while trying to watch the strip of my triage patient. And THIS is how I feel when I get home (and immediately get into pajamas), and realize I got to delivery 2 babies vaginally, kept one foot in triage but BOTH feet out of the OR! Whoop Whoop! I love love love working triage. I love love love my coworkers. And I love coming to work every day and not knowing what foot is going to be where! ❤ Until my next delivery ❤ Be a part of a delivery and share with friends:PrintTumblrFacebookTwitterLinkedInPinterestRedditLike this:Like Loading... Then he crashed while my ob was turning him. SO an emergency c-section (with me sleeping) was needed. I am grateful for my nurses though. They are the rock stars of the labor and delivery units. Reply
