A Must-Have List for New Parents

Let me start by saying that these companies do not give me anything for mentioning any of these brands…but I’m totally open to that idea! lol

If you have a baby or parent item that you think is worth it’s weight in gold, please E-mail me! 😃

This list is continually growing 😉 and I will repost on Facebook and Twitter every Monday with updated items.

For Baby

Divider Plates – These plates are AWESOME. They are perfectly portioned, dishwasher safe, and pretty inexpensive.

Ok to Wake Clock – When my toddler starting waking up at 4 a.m., acting like it was 8 a.m., I knew I had to do something. After doing a little research online, I found this behavioral-modification clock for kids. At night, you can press the clock and a soft yellow nightlight will come on. You can program this light to go off whenever you want. The clock turns green at a time you preset. You can set it for any time you want (we set ours for 6:30 a.m.) and every night we say “we don’t get out of bed until the clock turns green.” My son still wakes up earlier than 630, but he stays in bed and doesn’t cry until the clock turns green. I wish I had found this a year ago!

Fisher Price Spacesaver High Chair – It doesn’t matter what kind of high chair you get, they all look ugly and take up room in your kitchen. This high chair is perfect because you put in on a chair that is already at your table—so no extra space taken up by some boxy item that screams BABY!

Medela Pump and Save Breast Milk Bags – It kind of changed my life as a new mother when I found these bags. No more unscrewing a bottle from a breastpump when you’re trying to catch every last precious drop. These bags easily detach and go right in your freezer like a Ziplock bag.

Dr. Brown’s Formula Mixing Pitcher – So I happen to love breastfeeding. I breastfed my daughter for over 3 years. My son, on the other hand, completely stopped breastfeed on his own at 9 months (heartbreaker!).  Forced to use formula, which is a total pain in the ass after slapping a baby on the boob, I found this little device extremely useful for preparing bottle after bottle after bottle.

Pampers Sensitive Wipes – My children both had bottoms that turned red if I didn’t change their diapers within 3 minutes of them using the bathroom. Talk about sensitive! These wipes are super thin and soft, perfect for that delicate baby bottom! I literally buy everything on Amazon, but these wipes are pretty cheap to buy online.

WaterWipes – These wipe are a little thicker, but they’re pure and perfect for wiping down a baby’s dirty face or your dirty hands…

JJ Cole Bundleme – I had absolutely no use for this in Texas, but with my first daughter I used this every.single.day while we lived in England.  It will keep your little one as snug as a bug in a rug.

For Parents

Boba Baby Wrap – With my second baby, I think I bought four or five baby wraps in all, trying to find one that was easy to use, comfortable for me, and comfortable for my baby. I finally found it in this!

Boon Lawn Countertop Drying Rack – This made drying bottles a breeze.

Born Free BPA-Free Quick Load Dishwasher Basket – We actually still use this thing to clean the baby’s medicine measuring cups and syringes. It was great for bottle nipples and pacifiers.

Baby Shhh App – They have all kinds of apps for iPhone and Android users that are basically baby shhhers. Most are FREE and provide either white noise or literally someone going “shhhhhhhh” over and over and over. These are great for nap time!

Marpac Natural White Noise – This is an actual white noise machine that is better for long periods of time. From the moment we started using this at 9 months, my baby slept through the night. So for me, this thing was worth it’s weight in gold.

Contoured Body Pregnancy Maternity Pillow – Great gift to give or to get for anyone who is pregnant.

Cabales Women’s 3-Pack Seamless Wireless Sports Bra with Removable Pads – So good breast support is imperative for new moms, but these bras (or any sports bras) can also serve a dual purpose for breastfeeding moms. You can cut a slit in them in a “t” shape and have a much much cheaper hands-free breastpump bra!  Don’t make the “t” too big and your breastpump attachments will fit snugly in the bra.

Until my next delivery ❤

    Nice list; no unnecessary junk.

Angelcare baby monitor that senses baby’s movement and alarms if they stop breathing. Moby wrap.

-A My Brest Friend breastfeeding pillow. Totally amazing. It’s flat on top, and straps in, so it’s awesome for larger moms where the C-shaped pillow pop off, and the baby falls off the round top because the boob is bigger.
-For tummy time: an angled baby-safe mirror. We got the Bright Stars one. My son went from 30 seconds of screaming tummy time to 10 minutes of happy smiles in about 3 days.
-cheap and easy DIY pumping bras: Go to Walmart. buy a 3-pack of sports bras in ONE SIZE BIGGER than your pre-pregnany size. (at least). Put it on. find out where your nipples naturally lie. cut out dime-sized holes. Pump hands-free. that’s right… now you can SCRATCH YOUR NOSE!

I want to hear what you have to say!
