The Life of This Nurse

Happy Nurse’s Week to every nurse out there! This may be our life…but most of us wouldn’t have it any other way 😉

This is how I feel when I realize I work the next day and my scrubs are dirty.

This is how I feel trying to stay up as late as I can because the kids are in bed.

This is how I feel when I wake up for work. Even though I know I might clock in 5 minutes late.

This is how I feel when I step onto the unit and see all of my favorite people.

This is how I feel driving home.

This is how I feel when my husband asks what's for dinner.

And then I try to stay up as late as I can, even though my legs feel like they’re going to fall off, and I know I have to work the next day.  More than likely, I forgot to wash my favorite pair of scrubs (the only ones that still have a bit of room in them, with no holes and not too many stains) because I have to finish watching this episode of The Walking Dead.   There are dishes that need to be done. There are toys that need to be picked up. But for now, with both kids in bed and my husband pouring me a glass of wine, I will fight sleep and finish this episode and I don’t care how quickly tomorrow comes. Because right now, I’m not taking care of anyone but myself. And I feel like I’m queen of the world!!! 😃 At least, my world.

Until my next delivery ❤

    Happy Nurses Week!!

I would love to see a post about what it’s like for an OB nurse to be the patient! Is it awkward to be in labor with cervical checks, etc in front of your coworkers/friends? Is it even more weird having the doctors you work with every day all up in your lady bits?

I attended nurses training in early 70’s. Our uniforms looked just like those and caps were similar. White panty hose and white leather shoes called “clinics.” Our classrooms more modest than the theater style.
42 yrs of interesting, purposeful service. Grateful!
