Taylor Swift Does Labor and Delivery

Who doesn’t ❤ Taylor Swift?!? I know this labor nurse does! …so I thought SHE should do labor and delivery too 😉

This is how I feel when it’s 11pm the night before work, I’m not sure if I work the next day, and my favorite pair of scrubs aren’t clean…
This is how I feel when I walk into work and see all my favorite coworkers...

When a patient comes in like this, I know she’s in active labor (or a primip who’s completely effaced) …
raise hands
This is how when I find out I’m the labor nurse, and I only have one patient (and of course, her baby in utero)…

This is how I feel when my patient asks when her provider is coming, and if they're going to stay the whole time they're in labor...

laugh
This is how I feel when I tell the patient she’s complete, and everyone in the room asks me if it’s time to push…

…so I think twice and tell everyone she’s 8cm so she’ll actually get to labor down…
shrug
This is how I feel when she delivers with one push…
oh no
This is how her family looks who’s standing at the bedside at delivery…

This is how I feel when the baby nurse and I place the baby skin-to-skin and the baby actively roots and latches…
eye roll
This is how I feel when my patient says she couldn’t have done it without her nurses!

I loooove Taylor Swift! lol …and I ❤ ❤ ❤ labor and delivery : )

Until my next delivery ❤

Funny, I’m not a labor nurse, but I have had 7 babies and I quickly learned that having a good Dr usually doesn’t matter much unless yo have complications. But if you are a woman made to birth babies like I am It’s all about the nurses. Dumb nurses = not so smooth delivery. Dumb Dr.s that don’t listen to you when you say the baby is going to come fast don’t help much either (they usually aren’t even there!)
