Modern Family Does Labor and Delivery

You missed a picture of taking a cell phone away from your “the pain is 10/10” labor check who is only 1 cm and tell her to go home and come back when she can’t text or Facebook anymore because she wants to throw her cell phone across the room! That’s my description to some of these triage patients! LOL.

I always tell my patients your contractions should make you unable to walk talk or use your cellphone!

L&D nurse here! I was stuck at 1.5 cm for like 8 hours with horrendous back labor. Then, I went to 5 cm after they let me get out of bed for 15 minutes. Trust me when I say I was having active labor contractions at 1.5 cm.
Cervixes are weird and mysterious creatures at times. That being said, I was definitely not on my cell phone. I was praying for God to kill me faster. ?

Needs one for when you have family members/friends whose idea of support is sitting on the chairs in the corner of a room, cracking jokes and updating the whole world via text/facebook/twitter, instead of, y’know, supporting the mother!
